Denardo D. Dunham, DPM, MBA, FACFAS
Dr. Denardo Dunham is a native of New Haven, Connecticut and a Board Certified Foot & Ankle Surgeon. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Dunham has been practicing in the Greater New Orleans Area for the over 27 years, providing quality foot care to his patients.
Dr. Dunham is a 1982 graduate of St. Paul’s College (in Lawrenceville, Virginia) where he received his B.S. degree in Biology. He later went on to do Master’s work in Microbiology at Virginia State University (Ettrick, Virginia) from 1982-84. In 1988, Dr. Dunham graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (located in New York City, NY), where he received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Following completion of podiatric medical school, Dr. Dunham went on to enroll in residency training at Southwest Detroit Hospital (in Detroit, Michigan), where he also served as chief-resident. Dr. Dunham later went on to obtain his MBA degree at the University of New Orleans in 1999 with emphasis on healthcare management. After completion of his residency program, Dr. Dunham moved back to New York City where he opened a practice in Bronx and after one year of practice, decided to move to New Orleans where he began his private practice in 1990.
Dr. Dunham practices all phases of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery to include: medical & surgical care of foot & ankle deformities, diabetic foot care – including limb salvage techniques, reconstructive foot surgery, management of the flat & arthritic foot, geriatric & pediatric foot care, trauma, and sports medicine. Additionally, Dr. Dunham performs in-office foot surgery, as well as Diagnostic Ultrasound, Arterial Doppler Studies (to evaluate circulation), and Laser Treatment (for pain and unsightly toenails).
Dr. Dunham has participated in several clinical trials in the New Orleans area as a Principle Investigator and as Sub-Principle Investigator.
Some of Dr. Dunham’s past teaching and clinical appointments include: founding & former Residency Director, Lakeland Medical Center (New Orleans, LA); Clinical Faculty, Tulane University Hospital & Clinic – Department of Endocrinology; Clinical Faculty; LSU School of Medicine – Director, Diabetic Foot Clinics at Medical Center of Louisiana (Charity & University Hospital Campuses). Dr. Dunham currently serves on the Advisory Board of Blue Cliff College in Metairie, Louisiana.
Dr. Dunham is currently on staff at New Orleans East Hospital where he serves as the vice-chief of the Surgery Department.
Among some of Dr. Dunham’s Professional Affiliations are: The National Podiatric Medical Association (former president & board member), the New Orleans Medical Association (former president & board member), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. (member), and the National Black MBA Association (member).
Dr. Dunham is frequently invited to speak as a guest lecturer at various national medical conferences. He enjoys playing tennis, golf, fishing, gardening, collecting artwork, and listening to music. Dr. Dunham currently resides in New Orleans with his wife (Rochelle) and two children (Jemila & Najah).
